“Our ability to reach unity and diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization”
“Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future”
“You may not see it yet, but you will speak with reverence & awe of this, even to the end of your days: that you were here when we remembered who we are”
UBUNTU awakens practices of wellbeing and reciprocity with our Self, our communities, and Earth, through yoga, experiences, reflective dialogue, and business consulting.
“Come Home”...a whisper, soft and loving, but firm and clear. Impossible to ignore.
I AM because WE ARE
UBUNTU is an African philosophy which stands upon the principle of interdependence, that we are all connected to each other. With no literal translation to other languages UBUNTU essentially means: “I am because we are” and understands that the wellbeing of one is inextricably connected to the wellbeing of all. Therefore, the action - or inaction - of the individual has a direct effect -beneficial or detrimental- to the whole.
The six pillars
Origin is both source and destination
By acknowledging where we come from we can be informed of where we are today, and choose the direction we want to go. Origin does not need to be created, she only needs to be remembered. Origin is the port in the middle of a storm, the guiding light that brings us back Home.
UBUNTU understands Origin as:
- Our Birthplace and caretakers who provide our initial belief systems
- Ancestral Wisdom: centered upon the law of balanced existence, ancestral stories are not only history, but prophecy, necessary to restore and rebuild what has been broken
- Our True Self: the purest part of our existence, carrier of our purpose, holder and protector of our gift. The warrior within our Self who knows the truth
“The part can never be well unless the whole is well”
- Plato -
